My latest book is called Me and My Animal Friends (September 2009), by Ralph Covert of Ralph’s World.  I was so excited when my editor, Christy Ottaviano, asked me if I’d be interested in illustrating it because I’ve been a HUGE fan of Ralph’s music for years (read more here).

Watch Ralph singing Me and My Animal Friends! I especially love watching all the kids dancing.  It reminds me of the Christmas play rehearsal scene in the Charlie Brown Christmas Special — there’s even a set of twins, too!

Here are a few images from an upcoming book I illustrated called Me and My Animal Friends (Fall/2009). It’s actually a song (Animal Friends) by Ralph Covert of Ralph’s World. It’s the first picture book I illustrated that I didn’t write and it was great fun to work on.

I was especially excited about it because I’ve been a big fan of Ralph’s music for a long time. Henry Holt is publishing several books by Ralph and the first one is called, Ralph’s World Rocks! (Fall/2008), illustrated by the talented, Charise Mericle Harper.
